You forgot to mention that we got to eat on your fancy china and drink from your gorgeous crystal! Fanciest party I've been to since your wedding! Thanks for a great time!
I want to give you an update on my holiday shopping challenge. IT WORKED! I'm thrilled because so rarely do I actually complete something I set out to do (always the best intentions). Here's a reminder of my pledge.
I haven't run the numbers, but I'm pretty sure we did even better than 75%. Of all our holiday shopping, only one gift was purchased at a big box/national retailer. You know, the one that seems to always be going out of business. But that was it. Everything else was local or purchased from a small retailer online.
Dandelion -- Louisville, KY
Proper Topper -- Washington, DC
Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts -- Louisville, KY
Abby Park -- Milton, MA (Boston)
Cooking at the Cottage -- Louisville, KY
Kramer Books -- Washington, DC
Stash Tea -- Tigard, Oregon
Scout -- Louisville, KY
I have to tell you, this challenge was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It helped us plan out our gifts a little more too, which is never a bad thing for us. It felt great to walk into Kramer and buy a stack of books instead of order them online from Amazon. And we had a blast in Proper Topper, where I used to moonlight, and pick out beautiful jewelry and accessories for our family. We even got a deal from Anna, the owner, on a gorgeous Tusk iPad case!
In fact, I'm gonna try to keep this trend going throughout the year!
Hope your holiday shopping was stress-free and merry!
xo,
