Local Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad

Hope you're having a wonderful time on vacay! I've missed you!

My Mom was in town this weekend and we had a wonderful time together despite the heat! We had amazing meals (Indian, Tex Mex, movie theater popcorn and crab quiche) and did a little shopping and planning for the apartment too!

One of the yummiest dishes we had this weekend was the very basic Local Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad from the Seasonal Menu at Le Pain Quotidien. I've seen similar offerings on plenty of menus this summer but had yet to indulge and it did not disappoint.  Run to the nearest LPQ and try it asap! OR make your own if you're so inclined.

  1. It never would have occurred to me to try this salad if I hadn't read about it (and seen that beautiful picture) here first. But when I saw it on the menu at Lacondo Verde this week, I thought I'd make the 75th & Sedgwickers proud, so I ordered it. Delicious!

  2. I'm so glad you liked it! I made it for Jeff last night and he's a fan too! I agree, I would NEVER have thought to put any of the ingredients together, but it really works and is perfect for summer!

  3. Nathan -- Locando Verde?! YUM. Fancy date? Please tell me you got the spreadable ricotta appetizer...

    Thanks for readin'!
