London Candy Company Presents... Cakes!

Hi Deweese,

Love learnin' all the random stuff goin' on with you! Those bobby pins look cool but there is no way they are coming within 10 feet of my curly head. I don't think they would ever come out. Oh and that polar bear makes me want to scream! (in a good way)

I keep forgetting to tell you about the event I attended at the London Candy Company last week! I first found out about the shop from Lucy Actually, but when I got the email inviting me to an event there I definitely looked over my shoulder, raised my eyebrows and pointed at myself.... who ME? But, alas, they were promising sweets and champagne. So I was all over it and brought Nick along with me.

We got a chance to chat with the owner of the shop who explained that he'd been selling candy since his playground days in England and that ever since he moved to NYC, he had friends begging him to bring back their favorite candy every time he went home to visit his family in England. Light Bulb! Time to open a candy store featuring just British-only treats. Lucy, I'm looking at you when I say this, they have a very wide selection and I bet they have all your favorites!

Anyway, the event was for their newest venture: mini/personal cakes (but not cupcakes) based off of and using the ingredients of some popular British candies. Check it:

Not sure how the cakes will do, since I think the store's overall draw is based on nostalgia/familiar tastes, but we'll see! Overall, it was a lot of fun. And the hazelnut cake (the very first photo) was pretty darn good. Afterward Nick and I tried to go to Earl's Beer and Cheese (um, awesome combo), only to turn away for the second time based on the crowd/wait! Someday...

Love,

A couple of PS's, since its Friday after all:

PS: Refinery 29 shares 8 Horrible Dating stories. All 100% true. Very good for a laugh!

PPS: I don't know why, but I love these nails. I used to do striped and polka dots on my nails all the time in 8th grade. Maybe its time to bring it back.

PPPS: Another map for you. I love this one!

PPPPS: Uh-oh, Madewell is having a BIG sale. BIG! HUGE! Hee hee that just made me think of this:

Ok, now I am just rambling. Happy 4th, Deweese, and everyone else!!
