Van Cleef & Arpels

Your Friday Candy got me through a long day! Buuuut I gotta say I'm definitely on the other side of the fence with Bethenny (though that doesn't mean I didn't watch the entire wedding episode!). Her husband seems really sweet and normal...maybe she could take a cue from him!

How was your weekend? On Saturday Nick and I finally made it to the Cooper-Hewitt, the Smithsonian's National Design Museum. We've wanted to check it out for a long time, and of course we finally get there to find most of the museum closed due to construction for a huge (and hopefully awesome) renovation. No worries though, we were still excited to check out their new-ish exhibition: Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels. I wish you were there! Seriously gorgeous, glamorous pieces by the famous French jewelers:

Equally as impressive was the exhibition design. Nick and I loved the futuristic/glass orb installation for the way that it showcased but didn't overpower the jewels. We also loved how the clean lines of the installation contrasted with the ornate interiors of the Cooper Hewitt itself...

Another highlight of the exhibition was Grace Kelly's engagement jewelry set designed by Van Cleef & Arpels. The set can only be described as a perfectly proper pearls explosion! Unfortunately I can't show you an installation shot because photography is not allowed in the exhibition... but I found a photo of her wearing it for your enjoyment!

Not sure what my deal is...I guess I'm on a bit of a glitzy, blingy lil' kick lately! So we're just gonna go with it, mmkay?
